On Tuesday 26th April. 10 of the year 5/6 girls had the opportunity to visit Keswick School and meet Kate Cross, England cricket bowler.
We did lots of different skills activities and we were able to ask Kate some questions. We were amazed that she hadn't been playing professionally for very long. When she was younger she had to play on boys' teams because there were no girls' teams available. She wants to bring cricket to girls. We enjoyed listening to her inspirational story.
We also met Georgia Hendy from Australia who is here for six months.

Thank you very much to Mayfield School and Aquasplash for inviting our reception class to swim at their pool alongside their pupils. The children, staff and parents had a great time and cannot wait for next week. Thanks also to our parents, staff and volunteers for making it possible.
Over the next 10 weeks KS1 and KS2 will be taking part in the Activate Programme which will consist of 10 lessons focussing on healthy lifestyles. Well done to the whole school for completing our Mile on Monday challenge. Every single child completed the 7 laps of the playground at lunch time today (11/01) with many going even further. Keep up the good work and positive attitude.
Our school provides a minumum of 2 hours of PE every week, as well as 10 minutes of fun fitness exercise twice a day, lunchtime activities and a variety of afterschool clubs.
At Frizington we work alongside sports coaches (Onside Sport) to plan and deliver high quality P.E lessons for all year groups. They also run an after school session to help increase pupil participation in sporting activities.
Included in our sports facilities is a large sports hall, two large areas of playground as well as a substantial playingfield.
Our school aims to promote a healthy lifestyle within breakfast club where children can enjoy a healthy choice of foods to help them start the day, as well as a 10 minute shake up activity that is part of the change for life scheme.
Children are also encouraged to use the salad bar at lunchtimes to ensure they have a balanced meal. They are also encouraged to take part in 'Mile on Monday' or 'Trek on Tuesday' where children run or walk a mile, or futher if they wish, around the playground.
