Year 5/6 have worked as artists sketching images of Indian elephants.
Year 5/6 have been learning about both harmful and helpful microbes. Yeast, a fungus, is used in bread making and needed to make the dough rise. We carried out yeast races to discover sugar speeds up the fermentation process.
AUTUMN TERM OPEN AFTERNOON
Year 5/6 took the opportunity to share and celebrate their learning this term - so far - with their visitors.
India topic - Tea Tasting
Our topic this term is India. We have been sampling different teas when we had afternoon tea. We tried: Assam, Darjeeling, Earl Gray and Lapsang Souchong. Each has it's own taste and some were nicer than others. The scones went down well!
In preperation for our overnight residental, we spent the day working with Becca from West Cumbria River Trust. We looked at how to keep a river healthy and experimented with soil to workout how to stop it running into a river. We looked at the impact it could have on the wildlife.
